“I started SHARE Charlotte to make it super easy for people to get involved in making this city stronger and a happier place to live,” says Kelly Brooks, founder of SHARE Charlotte, which provides access to hundreds of nonprofits, their volunteer opportunities, donation needs and event information. “I grew up in a small town in Upstate NY called Horseheads always wondering where my path would take me. The long road led me to Charlotte with a great husband and two beautiful kids. In 2012, I discovered the work I am called to do now.” Brooks says it is critical that we give our local nonprofits the attention and love they need to keep doing the hard work of supporting the people, places and things that ‘need’ in Charlotte. She shared an example of how SHARE Charlotte is inspiring people in Charlotte to rally to do big things. In 2015, SHARE Charlotte brought 108 nonprofits together to raise $4.2 million around #GivingTuesdayCLT and this November the goal is to raise $8 million. However, you don’t have to wait until November to give. “There is a way for everyone to do good, big or small.
